The basic PEP course is presented as two self-instructional books (Maternal Care and Newborn Care) that together form an outreach learning programme that covers all the important and common problems in perinatal care. Each book consists of 15 theory chapters. The chapters are modular and address specific clinical problems. If necessary, the chapters can be studied on their own or integrated into another curriculum. Many of the chapters are followed by skills workshops. While the chapters enable the participant to learn the theoretical knowledge about the topic and stress correct attitudes, the skills workshops describe the practical skills needed to apply the newly learned knowledge. |
